breaking up into regions worked for me when I ran a pet rescue transport.

Folks who wanted to volunteer to drive rescue dogs signed up in their region so when someone needed a volunteer they went to the area they needed. easy.

I do find it a bit difficult to navigate thru everything in the way the section is now. If I'm interested in a thread I subscribe. but if a new one pops up and I miss it - odds are it gets buried fairly easy too

Being organized is essential to any community, business, club, etc.

I like the idea, it would be nice.

I would suggest that if you like this idea please vote on it up top in the rating Bar. The more votes that are cast for this idea the better chance we have of getting our great Admins to take a look at this idea and maybe change the way it is now.

Sorry about putting this up in a different Post after you put it up I am still getting used to the forum and names. I completely agree states would make it easier...Not only will it make it easier to find hangouts but you could get to know people in your area a little easier as well as for asking suggestions of areas to visit for new hangers like myself or someone visiting the state.

Can we get some input from a moderator on how viable this is? I'm willing to let it die if there is a valid reason it's not done.

Perhaps there are limitations or constraints of the forums that make this undoable. Perhaps we need to use the other tools here like the calendar functions more.

At any rate, I can see where posts get lost over the course of a day or two. As someone who wants to encourage new hangers to participate, I feel guilty when bumping a tread without really having anything to contribute (Okay..I know that's nearly every time I post but still) in the hope that someone who may not know it's there stumbles upon it and benefits.

Its not that hard to do on the website that I run, but I am also useing joomla and got away from this style here on Hammock forums.

With Joomla there is a google map that I use that wont break the users up into section pages like the google one does here.

Adding a new section in the forums is easy. Figuring out how you want it to look is the hard part.

The mods appreciate the suggestion. We will discuss breaking it down by region, and the best way to do that.

In the meantime, subscribing to hangout threads you are interested in will serve most of the interest.

I might suggest looking at the Groundspeak forums and list the regions that way if possible. It is the easest way that I can see doing it. If none of you are geocachers then I can get an image of how its set up for you to see and talk about.

yes it would. I am now on page 2 of a outing here in Mass. and in order to keep it up top so it dont go to page 3 I need to post something to keep it active.

At least if it was in a New England section it would be on page one with other New England outings and not be mixed in with stuff most of us here in New England wont be going to.

As much as I love my hammock, I wont be going to Calli to sleep in it for the weekend
