Question "Hangouts, Campouts, and Trip Planning" new layout idea

I was wondering if it was possible to set up the "Hangouts, Campouts, and Trip Planning" in a regions format, for example... Hangouts, Campouts, and Trip Planning < New England (this would inclued ME, NH, VT, CT, RI, MA.).
All states would be in there own piticular region.

I think it would be much easier to find things that are going on around an area then having to go through each page and hope you find something.

You could just set up a new forum topic in "outings" and have it set up the new way, and then lock everything in the old one so it is not gone, but avaiable for viewing only so people need to use the new format.

This is just my thoughts and I was wondering if anyone else would like to see it set up that way?

Its a good idea. I think it would help make navigation easier. An example from today I was looking for a thread for the Michigan Hang that is this weekend. I had to sort through three pages of hangs before I found the one I was looking for.

    Exactly my point packeagle.

If I knew I was going to be in an area I could look to see what they had going on.

I would also suggest that once a date is planned for an event that it must be posted on the calender as well.

I just thought about it but you didn't even have to lock all the old stuff. Just move it into its new region home.

It shouldn't take you to long, Its only 56 pages worth LOL

Forum threads are pretty week for tracking events of any kind. Being able to sort by area, date, etc. would be very nice.

Perhaps tying the group hangs into a google map would work. You could look at and area and select them to go to the thread.

If you were to do that it would have to be user friendly so the one posting/hosting the event could enter in the coords themselves. Almost like the google map for members right?
On the down side, people would have to remember to remove it from the map after the event.

It seems to work well on other forums. It would be a big help.

I suggested along the same idea here last year http://www.hammockforums.net/forum/s...ad.php?t=21741.

At the time there were about 3 responses to the idea

I still think it is a good idea.

I like this idea! Please do this!

It would also help if more folks used the calendar function.
