After a mix up with the Clymb people I now have a Noah's 16 (they ran out of 12's). Will I have issues with underbrush here in Florida setting this thing up?
I played with it in my backyard the other day and it's like a mobile command center. This thing is massive I really like it but am worried I will have a hard time finding a place to set up camp due to trees being so close or too much underbrush.
Thoughts?

That is a monster tarp. Although I am not in Florida, I do know that the times I have tried to hang a Noah's 12 there were some real challenges due to it's size. You could probably find places where it would work but I think you would be more satisfied with a smaller blue poly 8x10 or even 10x12 than you will be trying to set up what you have.Originally Posted by TFC Rick

A 12 foot ridgeline is about as big as I would want to deal with.
If the trees are too far apart to accommodate the tarp getting the hammock
hanging correctly could be a challenge. I'd find a smaller tarp to hang under myself.
Save the 16'er for family outings where you need sun shade.
I've got all of the Noah's [got paid in Kelty gear for a job once] and the 16 in my humble opinion is way too big. Even up here in the NW where we could certainly find the space between the trees, the sheer length of the fabric makes it flap in the breeze like crazy. I've used the 12 a few times, and even that feels a little big for most things [although I pack it for car camping with the family to shelter the hang out area.
The only thing I use the 16 for is around the house, birthday parties, bbqs that sort of thing.

That big of a tarp takes an awful lot of otherwise good hanging spots out of play. 11-12 feet is plenty.
On the plus side, you can rig that big sucker for a diamond pitch, stick some poles under the corners, and be a hero at group hangs.

I agree with all above. My largest tarp is a MacCat Ultra, at 12' Ridgeline. At times it too is a bit much for me. I normally have the smaller MacCat Deluxe in most conditions. Then the larger tarp, Ultra for those times I do have the luxury of room, and need extra rain protection.
Sixteen feet is huge! Good luck with that.

I use a Noah 12 for now (new tarp being custom made). I hang on the square; with the cat cut tarp that makes for about an 11' ridge. That is about the most I care to use. I like to hang between 2 trees right at 15' apart, leaving 2' or so from the trunk to the tarp. I cannot imagine using a larger tarp.
FWIW, I probably do not hang in the same part of FL as you and my experience/ terrain will be different from yours.

Wow TFC, that is a large piece of real estate, I mean, tarp... I own the Kelty 12' and I think it's big. I typically hang it on the square for the 'winter' mode (pic in my gallery) and it offers great coverage and a lot of room underneath. But 16'? As others have said, good luck with it. So, how good are you at DIY tarps? I'm thinking you could carve this puppy up to your liking. Or ping ZQ2Q about some modding. Again, good luck.

A Noah 16 is about the size we use for a large group (10+ people) on a river trip to cover the kitchen, card tables, and chairs. I use a 12 X 15 OES tarp now for smaller groups (4-6 people). For my hammock I use the MacCat Deluxe. I personally think a Noah 12 is kind of too big for hammock coverage. Would be a good tarp to cover two hangers together. I would return it. A Noah 9 is a good hammock tarp.
