FYI for any bigger guys lookin to build this. i weigh 350, built this and when i tried it for the first time both hinges started bending and pulling out of the 4x4. so i need to find stronger hinges or replace them with something else.

what's the weight of this "portable" design. I think it's a great design, aside from that(weight).

I had someone ask me about the original drawing that I based my design off of. I can't seem to find it. Anyone got a link?

I am hoping to make a portable stand in the next few days. I am comparing this style stand with Risk's style. I prefer the compact fold up idea in this one.
I have 2 x 4s on hand. Are the square posts really necessary? Has anyone
tried this same idea using all 2 x 4s? I am going to use this stand indoors for now. Any and all advice is appreciated.
For those wanting to cut the weight in half and use up a few 2x4's instead:

Concerning Jazilla's drawing, the bottom angle say's 63* but that's clearly more than a 90* angle. I know it's been a while since I took geometry but I'm pretty sure all three angles have to add up to 180* and that would make the unlabeled angle almost a 90*. I want to build a none portable version and I'm trying to find measurements.
Edit:
Or is that angle refering to the cut on the ends of the 4x4s?

If you don't try due to fear of failure you've already failed due to fear.
Thanks for the inspiration!
I just finished a stand (not a portable one like yours) that's raised high enough for my Hennessy.
Attached are a few pictures with my hennessy and a KAQ Potomac UQ.
Looks simple enough for me.
How long is the base and what's the height from the ground of the extensions?
And are those gate hinges attaching the extensions to the base? Are they necessary? Could I just use triangles cut from plywood on each side of the point where the base and extensions connect? I'm assuming the 2x4 braces further up the extensions are supplying most of the stability anyway.
