    DL to SL Switchback

In the interest of moving from being a Proud Pound Hawg to a Gram Weenie...I decided to make some mods to my 1.9 DL Switchback today. I carefully cut out the black taffeta pad liner. I'm now the proud owner of a 1.9 SL Switchback!

I actually like the SL better. Can't even tell it once had the liner!
I test-fit my new 4S (yes, 4 season!) Yeti to it. (Thanks Smokehouse!)
    Works like a champ!

Congrats Alan. Good mod. IMO UQ owners don't really need that second layer.
DO you know how much weight you saved?

That's a great question and one I don't have an answer to. One day, I will invest in a digital scale!

I originally ordered a SL Switchback. I was informed they were out and would be a bit before they were available. Dale offered to send me the DL and I didn't turn it down. However, I'm just a single layer kind of guy...so it's what prompted the removal of the extra layer of fabric.

Hmmm .... I wonder if this mod would work on the lighthiker? May make the remaining fabric too stretchy. I'll have to see once I get mine

I have a 1.1 single layer Blackbird. I believe Brandon lists the maximum weight for that hammock at 200 pounds. I think it would depend on your weight.

Took my converted Switchback with me on a ride this evening and did some relaxing.
    Loved it!

Well, I do weigh less then that. Guess there is no real way of knowing. I think I will keep mine as is for a while. Don't want to mess it up.
