    Cheap DIY Tree Straps

Hey, im not sure if anyone else has tried this, but I have found that the tree huggers that came with my HH were a little too small. So Rather than buy 2 inch strap from the local Surplus store, I went to the Pick and Pull auto dismantling yard and cut seat belts out of a newer car. For a total cost of 3 dollars and about 15 minutes at the sewing machine I came out with 2 eight foot straps.

Just a suggestion for those of us who hike the redwoods, etc.

That's a great idea! Hard to beat a good pick-n-pull yard! Got to be careful, though, you go in there for a couple of seatbelt straps and come out with who knows what else! My wife hates it when I am allowed to wander around in places like that without any supervision...

I had suggested that very thing to my hubby! After some research though I had to scrap it cause our pick and pull yard wanted $12 per seat belt! So for us not a cheap (enough) solution.

This gives me hope. I'll keep looking!

Quest has 2" wide polypro webbing for $0.30/yard
That is only ten cents per foot.
