Hey folks,
the diy bug bit me heavily. I have spit out 3 hammocks in a couple of days from parachute material I got from englishseadog on the uk *bay. I asked him the specs and he said it's about 35 grams per square meter.
How does this compare to the measurements given here. I see a lot of talk about 1.1 oz ripstop 1.9 oz ripstop etc.
also, can anyone inform me of the weigth I can load on a 35 gsm hammock.
I was already in my hammock with 2 of my kids, so I know for a fact it holds 100 + 20 + 18 + 5 (gear) while swinging heavily because a third kid is pushing us, about 150 kilos
I made my first prototype a gathered end hammock, no whipping, which I enhanced later in the week (beautified the hem) and made 2 for my kids with end whippings, one with a webbing reinforced hem.
They love 'm.
Hope my gf digs the holes in the walls all over the place when she sees them when she comes back from snowboarding tomorrow
