You know what? I've never had to think about it before now. I just lift both feet and swing out to one side or the other, as the feet swing I tend to end up sitting more or less upright and ready to stand. Pretty much the same action I use to get in but reversed.

I usually just throw a leg over the side, then just roll out onto the ground with a thump, then lay there for a few minutes, that way I have the aches and pains like a ground dweller.

I just put both legs over the side, lean forward a little and stand up, all 228lbs. I may have to give the "walking backwards" a try.

In my home sleeper I put up an assist rope to help me out. In the field I use the HH bottom entry. It's the only way I can get out. I've been stuck in a hammock before. Not a pretty sight.
I may be slow... But I sure am gimpy.

Rev the ropes a great idea..... you also could put a Biner on the end so you can hook it to your ridge line so you don't need to worry about it falling out in the night
It puts the Underquilt on it's hammock ... It does this whenever it gets cold

I ran it from attachment hook to attachment hook on my stand. The HH would not allow the same device as the bug net is fixed and I have not had the zip mods done. All in all I prefer the HH in light of my mobility issues.

Remote control quick releases on the suspension: Wake up, grope for the remote, hit the switch, BAM you are on the ground, roll over & stand up just like if you were a groundling. Be sure to use the mechanical disconnects as the explosive ones are hard on any suspension involved. BUT, they do wake you up just a bit quicker & any slacker hiking companions you may have.

Sorry, as usual I could resist, but chose not to.

My actual, less than graceful way of exiting: Sit up slightly & spin my legs to over the side of the hammock, with assistance of the ridgeline I sit up more & "walk backwards" as suggested above. I then stand up using the ridgeline for support till I find my balance & I'm ready for the day. Well, actually, I'm ready to go back to bed, thereby supporting my belief that a hammock is not conductive to an early start on a long miles day in the "Piny woods".

Yeah... but with a twist - after a nightly excursion, trying to get back in the 'mock(at home). I somehow mistook the UQ for the hammock body and sat back - SLAM! leaving my legs hanging over the hammock and the rest of me pinned against the desk - i did not sound like a nice guy, trying to get up again Now i double check every time
