Got a serious newb question...how does one exit a hammock at least semi-gracefully? Flop a leg over and roll our works for sure but there's got to be a better way. Any suggestions?

i put both feet on the ground while holding onto the ridge line. i wait a bit. then pull myself to my feet with the ridge line and hobble out from under tarp and stand up straight leaning back making horrible sounds. i love the outdoors LOL

With my ENO's, they create a bathtub feel and therefore not as easy to sit upright in. My WBBB had a very flat feel to it so getting out of it was like getting out of normal bed. For my ENO's I swing my legs out like getting out of a normal bed and then I grab the edge of the hammock behind me and use it to push off (since the edges are higher than the middle of the hammock). I also sometimes spread my legs and put them on either side of the hammock, lean forward and stand up like getting out of a chair (occasionally pulling on the hammock to help me up). It's getting easier to get out of the hammock since I lost 60lbs. :-)
Don't let life get in the way of living.
I usually make sure no one is looking before I make my less than graceful exit from the hammock.
Bounce out. Use the dynamic properties of the nylon sorta like a trampoline to get yourself moving in the right direction.

I'll have to try the bounce out method one of these days.
For now I just sit up swinging my legs off the side, just like I do my bed, then stand up. No worries.
I'm heading to my first group hang tomorrow (NW PA hang). I'll watch the others in the morning and see what other methods I can make note of.
My least graceful moments were the couple times I tried out a Hennessy. I got tangled up in the velcro something awful.
No exit problems with the WBBB, just like getting out of bed, perfect height, no risk of falling out or tipping backwards. The only struggle is deciding to leave the comfort in the first place.
sit up, put one leg over one side and the other over the other side. Reach forward and grab a hank of each side then pull yourself up. Gargoyle showed me this at last years Hoosier Hang. Whoodathunk.

I never liked getting out of my old HH ... pain in the rump if you ask me
getting in was never a problem ...just getting out
it does take some getting use to ...but even after i did it a 100 times
i still would have problems ...and with a ruptured L5 disk the whole bending to get out never worked well for me cause i always had to have my head and body bent forward some... and would cause me pain
some ppl love it once they get use to it..but alot of ppl don't
it's one of those things...you either love it...or hate it
but it does take some getting use to
It puts the Underquilt on it's hammock ... It does this whenever it gets cold
