also should say that with enough volume running down the suspension, some of the water could pass the knot (monsoon or something maybe), this could robably happen with just about any drip string (not sure about a ring). rain like that isn't as common, you could throw a spare sock or something over the line (just under the tarp) if you had to... that knot should be adequate to stop the rain 99% of the time though.
