I had this happen(SC stretch, CBS) on my first night out with the winter phoenix 3/4 UQ.
My fixes were to replace the stock SC with thicker SC and add a breathable UQP. When adjusted correctly will not allow the UQ to leave your butt even if the cold causes the SC to stretch.

    Nice equipment picts.

Great story and jealous of you hang site. Yeah a piece of shock cord really does the trick. Let me know how low you take that thing Id be curious to know. The winter incubator is my next quilt. Cant wait for my birthday in october.
Sometimes I like to hike and think, And sometimes I just like to hike.

Hiking is'ent about waiting for the storm to pass its about learning to hike in the rain.

Perhaps it's time for some thicker SC... any recommendations for thickness?

    @LRR
The coldest so far is 6f(substantially colder if you count in the wind chill), and the hang site is just outside my living room - how's that for convenience

I will let you know if i'm lucky enough to get out in colder conditions

I also want to mention that i'm using my incubator to sleep indoor full time now - and it's still comfortable at 65f, how's that for a temp range

I replaced my stock shock cord with what ever REI sells. I think it's 1/8" It was just slightly larger in diameter.

Yes the UQP uses SC but very short ones. Here's a few picts of the UQP I'm using.

Exactly like mine CSS=Cold Side Syndrom???

I've been using my Ix UQ as UQP, but i'm worried about condensation(and even though it's light - it's still substantially heavier and more bulky than just nylon)

Haha sorry. You could make your own UQP
Yes I have tested the UQP in high winds.
Steady 15mph with gusts of 45mph one night. Here's a report.

Ah... read that one, very cool place to hang(donīt get me started on the view)
    Did it perform flawlessly?

I could DIY it. but the savings are minimal(shipping and customs make it pretty expensive)
