    Ultimate tarp confusion

hey guys I need some help choosing a tarp for my hammock. there are sooooo many choices out there and i have gotten my self all confused on what would be the best for me. my first choice for a tarp was the "speer winter tarp" but they are no longer on the market and i cannot find another one that works in the same way that they sell online. my second favorite tarp is the "Mega Ogee" but the price is a bit high for me. since im an owner of a very small business and that is my income i have to work with a very small budget. I prefer a tarp with doors that just close for best protection. i have also noticed that alot of you guys make you'rs on your own but I don't have the experience or the resources to get some one else to make it. I would like something that is made out of silnylon and is light weight.

also i like the single ridge-line setup from whoopie but is there a cheaper way to get this set up. or would it work if i tied a taut-line hitch around each tree and tied my own spruiks would this work the same and hold?

    first tarp

I'm also in a small business and share your constraints. IF weight is not too much of an issue, I suggest starting with something like a 10x10 blue tarp (they have them in green or brown now). Find out what suits you, then spend big on the one you really want. If weight is more of an issue, do as I did with a 10x10 piece of Tyvek housewrap. Waterproof and nearly bullet-proof. and weighs about 1 lb. Noisy though.

Yep. there are many choices out there, but that is a good thing cause chances are you will find something to fit you perfectly.. I also used a cheap tarp 8x 10 brown gander mt.
till I made up my mind what I really needed.. I chose the mega ogee cause I can do multiple setups out of one tarp... Including the doors..
We would be one step closer to world peace, if everyone slept in a hammock..

Nothing beats an OES tarp. I'm guessing it's one of the more popular tarps used here. Highly recommended...and he will do custom work. The only down side is it can be a longer wait than other options

Have you look at here or here? They're vendors in the subforums here that sells tarp ridgeline.

If you want, you could get zing it from samson ropes to make your own or just use braided masons line to tie your tarp up while you save up?

Hope that helps! And welcome to HF!
