ha, but as for the picture, I would assume that they set it up for the pictures, relax for a bit, enjoy the view, and then take it down with out risking sleeping in it.

Lol. A few friends and I really enjoy camping off the ground...but an even smaller group of friends and I really enjoy getting way off the ground. The highest I've ever been was 400' (I'll talk to a friend who has the photo and post it later), but we often go out and set up in trees like in the following pictures (note that these pictures represent my early <read ignorant> hammocking days).

    Our first trip:

    Getting into bed:

    Taking down the hammocks:

A stereo picture of a different trip:

In the last photo if you cross your eyes (creating three individual images), and focus on the center image you'll see it in 3D.

    [Edit: Found the other pictures]

Not where I'd like to hang, but to each their own.

It would make a sweet BASE jump. 400' is plenty of room to open and delploy. Not that I'd know anything about that sort of thing.

Pretty sure with my luck I'd just be hanging there by my foot that would inevitably get caught on something on my way out!

But it is all I can think about when I see that shot of him just hanging between rock faces; too cool for school!
    Trust nobody!

Wow. That's some scary hanging. You are braver than I am.
