    Or not.
Why not do it your way, but make it a foot longer than you think you'll need. That will let you test the concept. If you like the way it feels, but think it is too long, then you can trim one end to shorten it. If you don't like the way it feels, you can cut off the ends and try it with a straight cut, or curved the other way on each end.

If you start long, you can always shorten.

My guess is that the center will feel uncomfortably tight, while the sides will be floppy. Anxious to hear the report of what you find when you try it.

    jcress,
I like it! I hope to be get started in the next week. I've been thinking about the floppy side thing and what put a footbox on at least one side like the WBBB. It seems like this would effectively shorten the edges. Let me know about any thoughts.

Yep... a footbox will shorten that side.
So far, it seems that the accepted logic is that putting a footbox on the zipper side would make that side too tight and make getting in and out of the hammock uncomfortable.
I love the footbox on my FrankenBird / WBBB clone.
Actually, now that you mention it... it could be interesting to make the edge a bit longer on the footbox side only, to help compensate for the shortening that the footbox introduces.
The negative associated with the footbox is that it shortens that side, which makes it a bit harder to see out that side. You either have to pull the side wall down or sit up a bit. If that side had a bit of slack it might help with that.
Of course, it may negate some of the utility of the footbox as well... I'm not sure. Will have to think about this sometime when my head is clear. Too sleepy now.

Love your picture by the way. You two make such a cute couple.

    rjcress,

Thanks for the ideas it definitely gives me more too think about. Hopefully by next week I will have settled on one idea. I do think it would be interesting to have one side longer than the other with a foot box on the long side.

Oh and isn't my wife hot holding that ak47 with bayonet

Thanks again and keep the ideas coming.
