    Reading this thead was more fun than hanging out with a Woopie Sling......
    There was an Old Man with a owl,
    Who continued to bother and howl;
    He sat on a rail, And imbibed bitter ale,
    Which refreshed that Old Man and his owl

    Be glad she didn't grab something else at a 100 mph and do a bobbit!

    Another 50!

    Hey Big Dave,

    I too turned 50 earlier this year, and with the same stipulations from my wife I decided on 50 miles on the west coast (I'm from Massachusetts.)

    I have two possible routes in mind...PCT from the south tip of Tahoe to the north intersection with the highway. The other was a loop in Los Padres (and Big Sur of course.) I'm kinda really liking the Los Padres one but we'll see. I was supposed to be out there THIS WEEK but a job came up and I'min an office for another 45 days. I guess my trip will be after that. And I just looked at the weather in Los Padres and man it looks nice (high 60's, high 40' and sunny, DARN!)

    Any thoughts? How's your planning coming?

    John

I’ve got my ENO Doublenest (I’m 6’6” 315lbs), Amsteel suspension, DIY Tyvek tarp, Blizzard Survival Tube (just ordered), Hammock Bliss mosquito net, ESBIT stove and 24 oz aluminum pot (empty Heineken can). I had my route all planned out by I just found out that the Station Fire has rerouted the PCT onto roads for about ½ of my planned route. He is where I need help- I somewhere to hike! Here are my parameters-
    1. Closer to San Diego the better
    2. Must allow dogs (Red Rover is coming)
    3. Must have trees
    4. Must be 100 miles
    5. A road crossing or town would be nice
    A series of connected trails would be fine, a loop would be ideal.. Please help!
