    WTB - Mamba Jamba/Superfly, UQ, beginner gear/advice

Recently received my first hammock! Switchback 1.9 DBL Whoo!

Looking for a Big Mamba Jamba or perhaps a Superfly to cover my new home away from home - Preferably SilNylon. Door kit's a plus.

Also looking for an UnderQuilt for these cold Michigan winters.

And I'm open to suggestion if you guys have other good advice/slightly used gear for beginners that you'd be willing to part with.

I'm starting from scratch and my hammock's the first piece I've purchased.

    Thanks!

Checkout leighlo UQs by sending a PM to Hangnout. All the vendors here in the forum have great products, and are willing to help. It comes down to budget, weight, and need IMO. For example, If you camp in rainy/stormy areas you are looking for a high coverage tarp... if you are hauling gear long distances you are looking for low weight... If you live in a cold or seasonal area you may want to invest in heavier insulation... and so on. There are alot of guys on here with more experience than me, but I pick what best suits my needs, for the best price (not what's popular around the forums at the time)

Also, with the mambajambas on sale right now, you are probably not going to find a better value, and not much cheaper... even used.

Thanks for the responses Bomb. I'm in Michigan so our weather ranges from heavy Lake Effect snow with freezing rain to rain that can last a week at a time.

I'm going to go with the Superfly. What I'd initially read must have been an older model where the doors snapped on, rather than the current one with sewn-on doors. I figure this'll give me ample room for cooking/relaxing as well as keeping myself, my gear, and half the forest around me dry. :P

I love my mambajamba but a super fly would rock. I have doors either sewn on my tarps or removable. I like doors because of the weather we have out here.
For insulation see if you can try out some peoples quilts on your rig and see what you like and don't like. There are some fellow hangers in your neck of the woods. Shoot them a PM and see if you can meet up with them. Quilts are espensive so test full length versus 2/3 \, down vs synthetic or IX. Those are my 2 cents.

Are they still on sale? I don't see anything on their site? Hoping they still are though!

I didn't see them on sale either, but I decided to pull the trigger on the Superfly. I wanted the doors attached for the extra room/weather security, but I didn't realize that I'd been looking at older models with snap-on doors, vs the current sewn-on type.
