Well I went a little nuts the last couple months and bought 3 top quilts.
From left to right is a custom IX quilt from RJCress, next is a summer TQ from Hammock Gear then Te-Wa's TQ.
You can see they all are pretty close in weight, to be fair Te-Wa and I decided to add an extra ounce of down for a total of 8oz, this should get me to 30 pretty easily. I've been at 35 and was toasty. The footbox of the Te-Wa is sewn, you can see it is a smaller footbox then the others, I was interested in a cold weather (for Texas) top quilt. There is velcro to close it around my neck and drawstring at the side to snug it tight. This will for sure be my Texas Winter TQ.
The hammock gear has been talked about so I don't think I need to go into it only to say...DANG!!!! Nice TQ. Well made, love the color.
The Jeff Cress TQ is my favorite, only because I had such input into the design, Jeff emailed me with Questions and suggestions often. I laid in this last night, nice!!!! It vents at the foot box similar to the Hammock gear model. I used the vent last night as it got down to 45 and I was too hot, only had shorts and a long sleeve t-shirt on. There are draft tubes on the sides as well. I think Mac may have helped Jeff a little in the design It is 50 inches wide and is perfect for me. Gotta love the Camo. Jeff talked about the quilt in this thread http://www.hammockforums.net/forum/s...ad.php?t=29579 If Jeff ever goes into the down business I will be his first customer. Hammock Gear had the TQ on the shelf, I had it in 4 days Te-Wa and Jeff both took about 2 weeks from order to door. I mean c'mon, why so long
If you are going to the Billy Creek hang, this is the quilt I will be bringing.
Thanks to all the guys who helped me part with my cash. Jeff, thanks for being patient with a semi-noob.
Sorry for the bad pics on the scales, the first one is the Te-wa, next is the RJCress and then Hammock Gear.
