    Newbie From Ayrshire

Hi everyone, thought it was about time I said hello, have been a member for a bit now but have mostly been reading and searching through all the info on here Found the site through BushcraftUK forum as I have been on that for quite a while now.

Anyways I have just started to get into hammocking and have to say I quite enjoy it, I have been out in it twice now and have slept well both times.

My current setup is a Trekmates Expedition hammock, DD 3 x 3 tarp, Pacific Outdoor Aerogel mat and up until now I have been using a Tesco winter sleeping bag but my Woodlore Golden Eagle came the other day and I have ordered a DD Frontline hammock as I started with a small budget to see if I would like it and have just been upgrading bits and pieces from there.

    So anyway hello to everyone

    Scott

How is your DD 3x3 going? I have the same and think is great. Do you run it square or corner to corner?

I'm loving it mate, only used it once though, used a cheap plastic camo tarp the time before but the DD is a different class! It certainly proved its worth on Friday night in the heavy rain when I stayed dry!

Runnign it square just now but will no doubt have a go at corner to corner maybe the next time I go out, do you find much difference?

They are good quality hey... I only have one other and I'd suggest the DD may not be the lightest available but I'll keep on with mine for sure.

I have been running it square, but in some backyard testing I run it on the angle and was really surprised and the extra protection at either end.

If it was raining heavy with no wind then the angle could be the go. Any wind and even with moderate rain I'll keep it square i think. The again, if no rain was about and it was hot the angle could be good to get some breeze.

Will the options ever end in this crazy hammocking world?

Try looking in the DIY section. Great ways to get more gear for really cheap there. Welcome to HF!
