    Hello from Marietta

New member from Marietta, GA… I have been poking around reading checking out some ideas, watching some videos (plug for “Shug” and his awesome newbie videos) gathering ideas etc.

I have recently in the last year picked up hiking as a hobby and exercise program I enjoy camping so figured I would couple the two. As of this writing I have everything I need to “car camp” I am just starting the ramp and replacement with lighter weight gear. Some work friends and I are planning a section hike in May of the AT going south from the North Carolina border near Bly Gap into North Georgia - Springer Mt. / Amicalola Falls. I figure that I can get used to the Hammock side of things lessen my load and hopefully wake up with less back pain.

I will most likely be replacing both my tent and sleeping bag, so I figure a hammock and quilt system would be close in price just need to work out the details… I hope to learn from all of the writings in this forum.

    Thanks

    TMJess

Welcome! There's a plethora (love that word!) of info on this site and plenty of great folks to ask questions from. Shug's videos are a great place to start.

The hammock has surely lightened up the back pain for most folks on here. I'd venture to say it's the biggest draw to hammock hangin'!

Well, glad to have you hear and lookin' forward to hearing of your hangin' adventures!

Welcome aboard. You will really find more comfort, though the weight saving is a push depending on what you go with.
