    M1966 Jungle Hammock Re-Born

I was digging through my gear trailer and came back across my 1966 Jungle Hammock. (nylon version) . It is not quite as comfortable as the wider and longer now-a-day hammocks, bit is still a good durable "sleeper"

First I took the stock suspension ropes with the tarp hangers off and replaced them with cam lock web straps. (made by Rod Saver @ $5.00 a set.)

Then put it inside an ENO bug net. These bug nets work on just about any hammock.

And put some bright colored zipper toggles on the bug net zippers to make them easier to find.

And of course My feild testers had to give me their .02 .
(after we got passed the " stop-it,,, She's touching me, scoot over brother" part.

    .
It is still a good rig. So I reckin it's still a keeper.

    Great Idea

You know, I was just kicking around making/buying a hammock for my 6yr old. I totally forgot I've got one of these old surplus hammocks at the bottom of my gear pile (that's how I got started hammocking about 10 years ago).

The "fly" had almost rotted away by the time I got it so that's been gone forever. It still has the netting attached so maybe I'll rig up a ridgeline to keep the shape constant. The addition of my DPM "Basha" and I'll have the instant military surplus hammock setup.

Looks like your kids will have a blast.....I hope mine will too.
