I'll be hauling some firewood in on our yaks. It won't be enough to have a bonefire, but we should be able to have a campfire every night. Clams have to be purged so please bring some extra water if you have room.

I plan to do all my cooking on my little camp stove and I expect we will have a few alky stoves to play with for anyone who wants to give one a go.

When you arrive, make sure to tell the rangers you are camping at Campsite #3. They will give an overnight parking pass.

Also make sure to have biodegradable toilet paper with you for this trip. The rangers will ask if you have it when you come through the gate and if you don't, you have to buy it for $1 a roll.

I still have an extra yak that I can bring if someone wants to come and give kayak camping a try.

For those coming on Thursday we will be meeting up at the Canaveral boat launch at 9:30 a.m. and heading over to the site.

At this point I am expecting 6-8 people there each night. I didn't say hangers because there are some tenters coming who are interested in becoming hangers.

There should be enough of a breeze to keep the mosquitos down, but you will want to bring your bug spray. I'll be roasting some garlic with a touch of rosemary and olive oil in the fire the first night. My grandfather always swore by it.

MedicineMan I will see you Friday afternoon. Drive safely!

Plans are starting to come together.
It looks like water and firewood will be plentiful. It might be smart to bring at least a gallon of water for yourself to be safe, but I think we're going to be leaving some firewood behind.

If y'all have an interest in - ahem... such a party, let me know. We will bring some heavy duty aluminum bottles (thank you Kermegan ) and all the tools. All you would have to bring is a bottle of fuel (get a cheapo bottle of Yellow Heet - not Red Heet - from Walmart or Pep Boys). Then you'll have a souvenir of the hang.

    Cool idea, huh?
I have gotten only a limited response for my alcohol stove making idea. So I'm bumping the idea to solicit more feedback. I don't want to paddle out with the tools if there isn't much interest but I think it would be cool to do and wouldn't mind bringing the stuff if y'all are interested.

Its still below freezing at my house at night so this is going to be very much a tropical vacation. I don't even mind if I get hit by a mosquito or two!
And its always good to learn a new skill-CLAMMING-woohoo.
I don't know about the alcohol stove construction...I'm more of an esbit user and now the BCB-just being honest.

I have attempted/made a number of alcohol stoves and have a couple of trusts options so I don't really need any additional. Between that and my limited duration trip i won't need one. Thanks for the generous offer!
