Any of the Top Quilts by one of the gear makers on here will do you very well.

Mamba, burrow, no sniveler, speer, summer phoenix....

to be ultra-light, I'm waiting for the mail to deliver my Light Hiker Bed Roll from tree to trail gear. It comes in at 14 oz, or 1lb 1 oz! Can't beat that! I'll be posting a review as soon as I get it!

Hammock Gear has a flavor for everyone as well as custom orders for exceptional people. The summer phoenix will go as low as 40 dgrees and I think it's 11oz or something? Also all quilts from him come standard 900 fill. Can't hurt to ask Stormcrow about them

I only recently converted to hammocks, but have used TQ's for quite some time. Your pad is what insulates you from the ground. The TQ will do the rest. Sleeping bags with zippers are excess weight, IMO.

The TQ concept is not hammock specific in other words.

i took a look and those are some sweet bags! however i will never be getting down to some of those temperatures, and the ones that are in the temperature range that i'm in are quite a hefty price compared to some other bags i've seen such as the marmot sawtooth

Even for the ground, I use a pad and a quilt. I am quite happy with the set-up. I would either order a custom Hammock Gear Burrow, or the wide quilts by Jacks r Better.

If your going sleeping bag I would go for a Mont Bell. They are nice and light and made to fit the bigger guys.

personally haven't done this but I see a lot of posts like this. Bottom insulation in a sleeping bag is added weight with no benefit.. a top quilt, no matter where you get it from, of 800-900 fill will be significantly lower in price compared to a ull bag.. That and a mat, say from Gossamer Gear and it's not a huge chunk of change at all compared to those down sleeping bags

Started on the ground with a quilt. Still use it on the ground when I have to. Won't get me in a mummy bag until it's below 10F, and you'll have to really sweet talk me to get me out below 20F at all...
