    2011 Chrysalis

I just received an email with the details on the new model. The hammock itself is lighter, losing the heavy metal buckles. The hammock also has a second layer/sleeve to slide in a pad. Spreader poles now have joint reinforcement.

they have a new fly that is rain fly on top, mosquito netting on sides and bottom that has side zippers on both sides.

seems like they have covered all the bases with their new model. now if I can sell my old one and order the new one.

It would make a really great PIF!

Please let me know a few minutes before you post it as a PIF...

It's much more comfy than the beige version, I cut two inches off the spreader bar as the fabric was too taught under my head but this version is even better.

Suspension is lighter and holds more weight. I'm 240 and this is built like a brick outhouse, I'll bet you could go to 300 without a problem.

    Spreader bars are lighter.

Fabric on the bottom is one piece, not strips and the lay is much flatter. Double layer is breathable and nicer against the skin

Camper top is less fiddly than the old one.

Tropic screen is great if you carry a tarp already.

I've tried 6 different hammocks and this new one is a keeper for me. I moto or canoe camp so the weight isn't an issue

Hmm... its refreshing to see positive changes to a product, its as if customers gave feed back and they not only listened but acted on it. Usualy you see products releases time and time again with new options that are useless and at times they get rid of the key functional items. I think I may put this on my buy list.

    Hi there,
This is my first post here and my first foray into the hammock world.
I am seriously considering this for my first hammock.
Any ideas when and where I can get my hands on one of these 2011 model chrysalis hammocks? Thanks

here is the web site for the designer of the Chrysalis. Dave is very helpful. I have talked with him many times.

The 2011 hammock and options will be out in about 4 weeks. Even though Cabellas is cheaper, I would probably go for the new version as it has the two layer sleeve, much ligher construction, and the full mosquito netting and top.

Dave is a great resource. Give him a call.
