First DIY Hammock

Good job man! Should work well. I'm sure during the process after analyzing everything you did you will think of too many things you could have done differently. The difference between my first hammock and my last are a night and day difference. But they are all still servicable hehe.

Welcome to the board from another newbie. I saw where you were from and it took me back to some good memories. I had the pleasure of spending a week in Mobile for a training class about two years ago. Our class was in the hotel just up Royal Street from Veet's. Doug Previto, Daryl Huffman, the rest of the Family Jewels, and all the ladies made us feel at home. Daryl even had some old WV ties. I hope to get back down your way and see more of your beautiful city, the birthplace of Mardi Gras.

Thanks for all the kind words. I hope we can have a group hang soon. My first hang was great, my wife and my kids enjoyed the DIY Hammocks. I did purchase an ENO double nested hammock, but I may have to modify the hammock to my liking. It’s great but it has no bug net like the once I made. I made three hammocks so far each one has a different type of bug net. I am thinking about making a video about the different types of bug net material. Bug netting down here on the gulf coast is a must have. Does anyone know of an article that has been done on the different bug net material?

A very warm welcome indeed, from LA (Lower Alabama). With all the Gulf Coast hangers coming out of the woodwork to greet you, we may need to get together and have a Gulf Coast hang sometime soon.

Blakely is always a good place to go. Any your DIY gear looks great!
