    Material Scraps?

Anyone have some material scraps they'd be willing to send me? All I need is to make a small pouch to hold my carbon fiber tent stakes (quite sharp) so I can put them in the same stuff sack with my tarp and guylines. I'm not too picky on material, just something reasonably light and durable for the sharp stakes. Any color is fine.

    Many thanks.

I've got a few small pieces of black sil if you want them. They aren't very big, but should do for what you're looking for. PM me an address and they'll go in the mail tomorrow.

If you are not picky and lazy a old or cheap sock works.
Is that too much to ask? Girls with frikkin' lasers on their heads?

Yeah. All my material is on the other side of the country or I would send you some. The machine and sewing supplies did make the trip.

I have some car air bags and you are welcome to one if you want it. Car air bags are made from Vectran, the same thing that Ursack bear bags are made from. I made a food bag from the Vectran (and Kevlar) but I also made a tent stake bag with a double layer of Vectran on the bottom to keep the stakes from poking through the stake bag and puncturing something in my pack.

If you want one of the air bags, send me a PM.

Call Ron at Mountain Laurel Designs and ask if you get a small piece of their 210d Spectra Grid Stop.

For the bottom of stake bags that stuff is really, really good. Especially for sharp stakes.

If you have wire or nail like stakes another good method that I like even better is to use tubular webbing. Nylon or polyester is good. A diameter that fits tight around the stakes and is about 1/4" shorter than the stakes works really well. Cut to length, seal the ends. Seal one end closed and one end open. If the diameter is small enough that the stakes fit tight, they will not fall out of the webbing and the tight fit prevents the sharp points from poking through. I like either 1/2" or 1" diameter tubular webbing.
