How to tell between a regular JRB Nest and a Winter Nest?

    Hello,

This past weekend, I had the ability to compare my winter nest with another camper who had a regular JRB nest. Both were purchased in late 2008, and both had the bright green outer, black color inner. The dimensions and everything seemed to match to every detail. Weight and loft seemed to be close, but neither of us had an accurate scale or tape measure. The look and feel felt identical. So, my question is how do you fine gentlemen tell these find quilts apart yourselves? Is there anything in the labeling/tags on the quilt that discerns the two.

    Thanks for a fine underquit.

As you note, the Winter Nest is 5 oz heavier...Most with multiple JRB quilts mark models on the backside of the tag.

If you grasp the sew lines of the same baffle, black side and green or olive side, and pull you will have approx 3 inches between the seams on a WN and two inches between the seam on a Nest.

My WN has a string at the end of the velcro that you use to tie the foot-box closed (close to where your knees go, not the string at the end channel). I had the same question as you after trying to figure out which one was which. As soon as I got home I wrote "WN" and "Nest" with a sharpie on my tags.
    I ride a recumbent.
I like to HAM it up on the CW.
    I use Linux.
    I play go.
Of course I sleep in a hammock!

Thank you. They look so much alike, and its not easy to feel five ounces difference. We had to be careful to keep track of which was which in our comparison because they looked and felt identical.
