I am not a fan of mason line!

    There! I said it!

Except of course, for masonry applications.

Maybe it is my fat stubby fingers, maybe it is my aging hands, but I just don't like the feel and knotting properties of mason line. Give me Triptease of Zing-It, but keep that skinny stuff away from me!

I just swapped out the guylines on my tarp this weekend from mason line to triptease. Its a beautiful thing. Less stretch, less tangles.

My name is animalcontrol and I like braided mason line!!

it's cheap, doesn't tangle (for me...deal with the devil I guess) and weighs nothing.

I like fancy-schmantzy line, like zing-it. I like the bright colors and shiny "new" feel.

Count me in! My arthritic hands can't handle Mason's line. Even on a good day and bare handed. But since I'm cheap, I get my braided line from the trotline section of the fishing dept. of my local sporting goods store. They usually have different diameters of line so I have been able to find something that works for me.

I think like everything else..there are varying types/qualities of masons line.
I had some that would tangle just looking at it. And other brands that worked fine.

I tie mine with a bowline, then larkshead the line to the tie outs. No knots beyond this, just let it hang there. When needed to stake out, I use a marlin spike hitch with the stake being the toggle. This alieviated a lot of the tangle issues I was experiencing.

When I used a knotted loop on the stake end of the line, it created tangles and birds nests almost religiously...with unreligious language to follow.

    Reduce your lines tangle options.

I'm with the "like it" crowd. The price is right and I don't find that it tangles more than the next .

Line of all kinds tangles like crazy for me. The zing it type lines are easier for me to untangle than mason line. I keep a bundle of mason line in my emergency kit - if I happen to use a hank of it somewhere along the way, I generally don't even try to untangle it, just create another bundle and replace it after throwing away the snarled mess at the end of the trip.

Triptease, zing it, and similar - I can halve the line a few times, make an electrician's braid, and stand a good chance of having usable line that won't be hopelessly knotted.
