    hammock sock/undercover done

Finished my sock/undercover. not sure what to call it since I can add/remove insulation out of the pockets.

The suspension is basically the same way as a yeti works.. Hooked the shock cord to the head end on the whipping. Then at the foot end currently I have loops on each side of the shock cord (its not tied together) A mitten hook is on the line that come out of the whipping - I hooked the 2 loops to the mitten hook. A channel at each end with shock cord to seal it up.

The wind/weather protection of an undercover with the insulation of a UQ... but you can adjust the amount of insulation.
Sounds like a winning design to me.

    Knotty - I was on a mission!

Rj - I need to finish cutting up the insulation - going to cut a few extras for testing purposes. However, I think 1 layer will probably be more than I will need for summer and especially if adding it with a 3s yeti in winter. as of the other day before shock cord & it had 3/4 of insulation stuffed in it. it was 9ozs. will post finished weight once packed in stuff sack

GGT - Will make it happen

    The "Sock-o-lator".
What are you using for insulation?

laminate floor foam/padding (left over from when I did my floors) & I had to pieces of the white packing foam laying around that I used.

not 9oz total. when I got 9oz the other day before finishing it had 3/4 of the foam in it & no shock cord yet. Can't image it will go over 12oz

I'm using small shock cord - I see now reason for heavier shock cord. Did not use grosgrain either - looks fine without an edge & there's no purpose to use it.

rest of the insulation/foam is added, shock cord along the side channels (1 continuous piece). small shock cord pieces w/ mini cord locks on each end to squish closed -- in stuff sack 13oz

Folded it put in stuff sack & weighed
then took out of stuff sack & installed on hammock - lied there for about 15 mins testing

only thing left if to remove from hammock, add yeti then add The"Sock-o-lator" over yeti. It might be too warm - I won't know if I have too much insulation or hot flashes!!

It seems fairly easy to remove and put on hammock. only trick is to make sure it is folded right to get in stuff sack so when I unfold it will be easy to install on hammock. I made the sack long & narrow so it can be packed to the front part of my backpack & shape the pack.
