    New guy from East Alabama

    Hey folks,

New guy here from the Auburn, AL area. College buddy of mine got me hooked on hammocks.

Don't know if this is the right thread to ask this but...

Between an ENO Doublenest and a Warbonnet 1.7 DL Traveler, what should I get as my starter hammock? I'm a bigger guy (6'3", 250) and these two seemed like the best bet for someone my size.

Any and all thoughts appreciated. Thanks!

    Welcome War Eagle,

I have both the Warbonnet Blackbird and Traveller. I had the Blackbird first and liked it but felt like I wanted something more open so got the Traveller. Really love it. Can't speak to the other, though.

Down here in Columbus, so maybe see you on the trail sometime.

    Welcome to the forum.

I don't have an ENO but the WBBB that I have is more that enough room I'm only 5'8" but I'm swiming in it.

Welcome aboard. I have the BlackBird in 1.7 dbl and really like it. I am 6'4" and 290 and have plenty of room. I have never tried one of the ENO hammocks, but have heard good things.

Welcome, WarEagle86, from an AU Alum.

I have the Blackbird 1.7 Dbl and have been happy.

I guess the biggest difference will be the 'structural ridgeline' in the Traveler.

Like others have said, there are plenty who love their ENOs as well.

    Good Luck and War Eagle!

    WarEagle86:
Welcome to HF from Bama......Roll Tide!!!!!! Ok now that that is out of the way I will tell you that it depends on how much you want to spend as to which "starter" hammock I would buy. I have an ENO DN and a WB Blackbird 1.7 DL and all I can offer is this.....you will be comfortable in either one but the WB Traveler does come set-up for ease of hanging as far as the suspension system goes, it is included in the price.

    Thanks for all the replies!

Sounds like a lot of you have the Blackbird. Buddy of mine that got me started on this stuff has one and all I can say is I'll eventually get one...just don't have the money to put toward one right this minute.

To Shevy77, my wife's in pharmacy school here at AU and in June we'll be moving up your way (Madison area).
