    With the pads you can keep from being cold, with an underquilt you feel the warmth. Grizz said this much more eloquently in another thread.

    To me, it's like flying first class; once you do it, you don't want to sit in the back anymore. They both do the same job effectively, one just does it with a bit more comfort and style.
