    Hello from Utah

Greeting HF - I have been reading these forums for the past few months. Having owned, dare I say rope hammock , I wanted something MUCH better. I came across a great article on TrekLight hammocks, and purchased a TL Double which I have enjoyed (but not the offered suspension). That lead to this forum, and several chats (and orders) with Paul and Scott, and some "Woooohooo Buddy productions" (thanks Shug for the education with laughter) to work on changing that approach.

From your assistance, I have three hammocks under construction -
    • Gathered Hammock - Completed with a channel end (loosey goosey)
    • HH - Body is completed, W end, but need to add the bugnet and trim it up with some grosgrain, and replace the 550 ridgeline
    • WBBB - What an interesting mathmatical task - body is complete, need to add bugscreen, and determine the depth of the shelf I want
    • ---- All of which should have whoopie slings once opie gets his shipment in

Many thanks to this forum members - very impressed with the responses, helpfulness, and tips.

Look forward to adventures from Logan Canyon down to Zions National Park this year.

    Cheers - and hello!

Thanks blueblaze - my family has been eyeing the Poconos area from some time now... just need the ruby red slippers to magically transport us there.

    Welcome to HF...
It looks like you have been bitten by the DIY bug good. I look forward to seeing reports of those when they are complete.

I'll be headed to Southern Utah in a few days (assuming the earthquake has not whacked the flight schedules too badly...

Any recommendations on good places to hang in Southern Utah?

Cheers and welcome to the board!

Depending on the your likes and dislikes about being around people, Zions National Park has some great places in the park and outside (Kolob Canyon, and near the ghostown of Grafton in Rockville). Some of those places are strictly cedar trees so be careful. Depending on how far north you go, there are other places too. Moab is heating up now, and I have stayed along the frontage road on the Colorado river that crosses through there.

Best of luck - it has been a few years since I have been in that area.

Thanks for the tips...I've been to Zion, but can't remember where we camped or what it looked like last time...I'll check out those areas you mentioned..

We'll spend 2 or three days in the Moab area...I was able to make reservations in Devils Campground in the park....have always wanted to do that for the kids' sake (no hanging there...)

I also made a reservation out at Dead Horse Point...

On numerous occasions, I've tried to camp in Willows, near the Indian ladder and river, but to no avail.

Many of the places in our path that have trees for sure will likely be too cold while we're there (Fish Lake area, for example).
