    Noob Question about Suspension

I usually would just read these forums until I found the answer for the following question, as I am sure it has been answered. However, I have literally been enthralled by this site for over 6 hours today and I should probably let my eyes rest....

Is there a line which could be used to make whoopie slings/ used in suspension that has reflective material in it? I am thinking of a reflective dyneema-type line here, but want to make sure it is strong enough..

    Thank you!

i'm not aware of a reflective dyneema cord. one could use a reflective cord as a tarp ridge line which would follow approx. the same path as hammock suspension. (assuming you are trying to make your lines visible for mid-night hikes)

I have seen this and used for guylines, but it's only rated to 400 lbs. May hold if the angle is right, but not the strength I would want to use long-term.

i left out the phrase, strong enough to safely be used for hammock suspension.
may i ask what you trying for w/ref. hammock suspension?

...I assumed you left that out...I was thinking of trying to make a whoopie sling out of it. If it exists. Thoughts?

i think that ref. material added to a sing. braided rope might impede the bury from some of its ease of adjustment?

Just use the reflective stuff on the tie outs on your tarp. That will be enough. IT really shows up by headlamp.
I like refried beans. That's why I wanna try fried beans, because maybe they're just as good and we're just wasting time. You don't have to fry them again after all.

if you're worried about "clothes lining" yourself or someone else, using a ref. ridge line for your tarp would prob. take care of the needed vis.

Yeah, I mean I have reflective guylines, was just wondering if there was a line that would be similar, but stronger that I was unaware of. I just think it would be sweet to have all the lines be reflective... Thank you for all the responses.

you could look for a spray-on glow-in-the-dark cans of 'safety paint'. i'm not sure what's in it and how will it react with the lines ('suitable for almost any surface')... hth!
