I'm going at lunch today to see if I can pick up a pair. Hopefully I can find matching colors, because I don't really want to drive around to a couple Walmarts.

Yes, that's the one. It's heavy for sil, because it's not sil, it's urethane coated nylon. At around a pound, it's not ultralight, but it's ridiculously inexpensive.

What was the verdict on the quality of these tarps?

I just bought my two. The only color available was blue. 8oz sounds about right, one of mine was 7.9, the other was 8.1. Walmart also had Coleman seam sealer for $3. The grommets do seem pretty weak.

So what's the best way to hang a 10x7 tarp; with a 10' ridgeline, or diagonally with a 12.2' ridgeline?

I finally got my tarp finished. At first I just lapped the two hems and top stitched them. However, I realized that this was bulky, ugly, and a lot of stitch lines to seam seal. Last night I cut the hems off, and used a flat felled seam to attach the halves together and am much more happy with the result.

The total weight of my seam sealed tarp, in homemade snake skins, with a continuous 1.75 mm zing it ridge line, and two mason line guylines is 17.5 oz. Not UL by any means, but pretty good for $20, I think.

The only thing that bothers me a little bit is that one of the tarps is about half an inch longer than the other, but again, for $20, I can ignore it.

I still will probably remove the grommets and add reinforcements and webbing tieouts eventually.

When I find my camera's battery charger, I'll take a picture or two.

Sorry for the delay! I still haven't replaced the grommets with reinforced tieouts.

Thanks! Currently, there's a 40% chance of rain showers forecast for Saturday night. Maybe I'll get a chance to really test out the tarp.
