    Pics from my snowshoes

Well spring has definitely hit the Kootenays. Things are melting very quickly and temps are rising. All this week its around daytime highs of 7 to 8c/45f. I was fortunate to get out about three time/wk or more snowshoeing in and around the little valley where i live during the winter. I generally went on three different routes but all in the general vicinity. Here's some pic's.
This is the confluence of a few different valleys. Not really what you'd called toboggan country. The Slocan where i'm standing ,the Little Slocan in-between the green ridge on the right and the snowy ridge behind it and the Airy which is between the two snowy ridges. The Green ridge is the southern most part of Perry Ridge and i live a few miles up the Little Slocan Valley from here which goes for about 30 miles with a few branch valleys all of whech has no people living there.

All my snowshoe day hikes start from here. I live almost at the end of the small plowed road so i can walk a mile and then put the shoes on and go from there along the river or up the ridge.

My usual rig. ULA Circuit, cooking rig, fleece, down clothing for when i stop for lunch, 1-2litre of water, sit pad, adventure med bivy, first aid, extra food, and of coarse snowshoes which all comes in at around 14lbs, and around 11 when i put the snowshoes on.

A few miles up the Little Slocan .

This was a gorgeous day a couple of weeks ago and the temp was about +5. I found a spot under a tree in the sun ,had lunch and tried to get a tan

    Thanks for watching

    Rub it in!

Beautiful country! Looks like what I see here in New Jersey when I squint my eyes.

Allright, so I have to close my eyes tight... and dream.

Thanks for sharing - those pictures are great.

    AAARRRGGGG!

It's @#$%$*&( 55 degrees in my back yard, all the snow is gone,,,, ALL OF THE SNOW IS GONE!! Even after the 1/4" we got Thursday.

I miss winter already!! Thanks for the memories. Sigh!

Oh well, only (seemingly) 400 months till next winter.

(don't worry, my whining is almost over )

Pray for me to survive the up coming Summer, YUK!

THAT looks like a GREAT hike. Maybe someday,,,,,,,,,

Great pics mbiraman! Thanks for the tour!
A buddy of mine just left Detroit today to hop across the border for a short visit. I'm in envy.
But the two Hawks I saw today soaring on these March winds, screeching out their mating calls here in my neck of the woods, have me smiling that Spring is near!
