    i was excited when I signed up for that rag late last year. Now after reading 3-4 issues, I dont even pick it up when it comes in.

    Forums like this and bpl are MUCH more my taste.

    Now I know how people have 50 lb packs after reading their recommendations.

    I'm a long time subscriber, with long running disappointment, to "Backpacker." While I have many criticisms of the mag, the "Ask a Bear" column has got to be the silliest, potentially most misleading and possibly dangerous of "Backpacker" writings. IMHO, of course. Ahh well...the bloom and romance fade from most relationships.

    What we need is a "Hanging" magazine...
