It's a little wire/conduit holder that looks like a P, or maybe an R when it's not installed.

    Nice job special k.
I'm not that creative. Thanks for the compliment on the video. They do get better over time. I like your idea as you can really tighten down on the mount with your idea, instead of a Living with it of the pressure fit on thesticpic.
Also too, I'm using an actual piece-of-stick as my pole.

Nicely done! When Timberrr gets home I think I might have to tell him I want one by next week for the Canaveral Hang or I'll make it myself.

He hates it when I start looking for tools! Best way to send him into a panic attack is to ask "Honey, where's the hammer? I see the wrench and screwdriver..."

    The opposite direction....kind of

I just went the other way with a camera mount. I picked up a pair of 1/4-20 aluminum bolts from HD. I removed the straps on one of my hiking poles and drilled a hole down from the top of the grip. I ground away the majority of the head leaving just a thin flange of metal to glue to. Then I was just able to feed the bolt in from the inside of the pocket. This got slathered with glue and let set up then the straps replaced.

So, now that it's done I've got a 1/4" stud poking out of the top of one of my poles. It's not perfectly perpendicular to the pole body so I should be able to do some slight adjustments to get the up/down I need for certain shots (or just lean the pole). This is just a crude/cheap attempt to make a camera mount for those long exposure night shots and the occasional self portraits on the trail. I'll let you know how it works out.

If this fails I'll definitely be building a stickpic clone at work. Lots of cable clamps and hardware laying around....

The nice thing about The Stick Pic and the one I made is the camera is angles up a little. you can also bend the P-clamp to suit your style.
Thanks to all for the great feedback. I'm gonna post some pics of my home made battery lantern Made from an oil sample bottle I use at work every day.

Nice Idea and execution. AND, to get praise from the inventor of the device you are imitating, , WOW! You scored.

I have 2 stick Pick's & am still going to copy your Idea, maybe even leave it attached permanently to my hiking stick just cause I can.

That's why I let everyone know where to get the original. I really didn't want to step on his toes. I still plan on buying the original when its back in stock.

I also found out (almost the hard way) that you really need to glue the rubber onto the P-clamp cause if you twist it onto the pole to much the rubber will spin.
