Help a noob with his ridgeline

So, I'm very new to the idea of hammock camping but it had some strong appeal to me. My girlfriend got me the GT Nano hammock for Christmas and I decided to follow the advice in http://www.hammockforums.net/forum/s...ad.php?t=20614 to create my ultralight hammock setup. I watched shug's videos and learned how to use the tree straps, toggles, and whoopie slings, but I'm absolutely clueless what to do with my ridgeline. I'm probably missing other steps too but I just don't know what I don't know!

So, help me out. What should I attach my ridgeline to? And how long should I make it? And how important is it to wrap some cord around each end to bunch it up for the whoopie sling prusick?

    hey hardcorey,
i'm not familiar with a nano but, my hammock structural ridge line attaches to the amsteel loop that is larks headed around the gathered end of the hammock. the ridge line rule of thumb is, the ridge line should be approximately 83% of the hammocks length.
my ridge line is about 98".

Hardcorey, welcome to the HF community.
Are you talking about the ridgeline that many of us use for the tarp? If you are asking where to attach it to the tree, I've seen that most folk just strap it around the trees a bit lower than where you put the tree huggers. Depending on how far apart the trees are, I've attached the tarp ridgeline to the tree hugger toggle.
