Welcome John! I found the term Newcastle upon Tyne appealing but didn't quite understand what it exactly represented...so I googled it. Correct me if I'm wrong but Newcastle is the city or borough and Tyne and Wear is the county. More specifically....there is a Tyne and Wear river and Newcastle is located on the Tyne...hence the name Newcastle upon Tyne. BTW it appears to be a very beautiful city.
You guys also have one of the finest airlines in the world. (British Air)
