I'll be there and if my wife is not in Qatar for work she'll be there too.

Hey Preacha Man maybe we should plan for that weekend too, here in the OZarks. Have a National Hang w/ locations in different parts of the country so all can participate. Kinda of like the National Hike in June!

Can someone post GPS coordinates for the shelter so I can add the event to the Google Map.

I think it's this one, but I'd need confirmation on that. Actually, I'm positive that's the one after further review.

Looking forward to it. Thanks for organizing again Michael!

Just another monthly reminder that the Mid-Atlantic Hammock Hanger's Association will have its Spring Hang on April 25, 26, 27.
The MAHHA Hang will be located, again, above the shelter at Crampton Gap on the AT in Maryland. Although I said in a previous post that this will be a very low key event with nothing structured other than a Saturday night BBQ, two interesting "events" have been added:
"OH-NO" has agreed to give a short workshop on building and using alcohol stoves from cans. Also, PAN, one of the two "'Jacks 'r Better' "Jacks", will bring an example(s) of the flint knives that he makes that are so sharp that they have been used for doing surgery. I thought that everyone would find these two things very interesting.
There is plenty of parking, the shelter is only about a half mile walk to the site, there are plenty of places to hang, water is available at the spring at the shelter or from a faucet across the road from the parking lot. There is a privvy at the shelter and there are also bathrooms in the park across the road from the parking lot. A covered pavilion is located in the park for our Saturday BBQ and as a place to gather if the weather turns really terrible. I will mark the trail from the lot to the site with orange ribbon. The trail is easy to follow and several folks, including NCPatrick and his daughter, Tinkerbell, walked in in the dark at the last fall hang.
We had 20+ hangers at the fall hang consisting of inexperienced and very experienced hangers of all ages using many different types of hammocks, both commercial and DIY. It's a great place to have fun and learn. The Jacks have agreed to attend again, and many of us really benefited from their friendly and experienced advice; so, this hang would be a great opportunity for both experienced and novice hangers to attend. We had a large campfire in the Fall and depending on weather, etc, we hope to have another this Spring.
We'll put up directions as we get closer to the time of the hang, so, pencil in the dates on your calendars.
