I noticed a break in the clouds so I took this shot of the moon through a 400mm lens. Doesn't look all that much bigger than usual, but it certainly is bright. I'll have to climb up a pretty big hill to have any chance of getting a moonrise view tomorrow. Maybe worth it.

Was outside (3:00 AM!!!) and it's STILL cloudy I was hanging out with my Binoculars and my Camera, and I got some good glimpses. I got a few pictures too, but not only was I shooting through the clouds, but I was holding about 5 pounds of camera with no tripod on me shooting freehand Once I upload them in the morning I'll a few up. Nothing special because they're undoubtedly blurry, but hopefully they're better than I'm expecting

I was thinking the same thing! It seems like I've seen it bigger recently, but it is VERY bright, that's for sure!
Nice shot! I was shooting with a Sigma 50-500 with a 1.4x Teleconverter, shooting an effective 700mm. I only got 2 or 3 breaks long enough to shoot for about 3 seconds a piece If only I'd had my tripod they would have come out much clearer, but my hands were shaking a ton!

Went back out again. Couldn't resist. Sky is totally clear, for once. Got a closer shot with a 500mm mirror lens + 2x teleconverter. Looks **** near full to me...:

And a wide shot giving a better sense of the intensity:

Nice pics!! Yeah, was a great night for hangin', that's for sure. Lows here were around 5o* and clear skies.
That moon shining so bright, I had to hang!

Thanks for the post Cannibal! I'll be hanging tonight. We've got predictions for clear skies. It was cloudy last night but the moon is still up at 5:45 am. Like others have said, it doesn't seem bigger but it is nice and bright.

Like so many others, thanks for the heads up! I will be out there.
You don't sleep on the ground at home, why would you expect me to out here?

Hung in the woods last night with my wife and stepdaughter. The moon was truly amazing, low of thirty and clear as can be. Sure made the coyotes active, they were howling all night all around us. Gonna be out there again tonight, sposed to be clear again. What a treat.

Took the tripod out tonight. To many low clouds getting in the way, and too many high clouds hazing up any decent detail.
Still pretty to look at, but my pics tonight are crap.

Best moon shot I've taken was last fall in the BWCA.
    Thar be craters up there.

Like your pics Jackleberry. Especially the first (post #21)

yeah my pics today came out pretty lousy too - although that has more to do with my lack of anything resembling skill, or appropriate lenses for that kinda mega-magnified shot (mostly the lack of skill). The clouds were actually making for some pretty neat visuals, but capturing them wasn't easy.
