anyone know of any fabric that has the new NANO technology in it?

I want to know of anyone who has any information on fabric with the new NANO technology used in it. It will revolutionize our hammocks and tents! We can stay cool and hot when we need to!

I think the OP is referring to waterproofing technology involving nano particles bonded to regular lightweight materials.

BPL had an article on it over a year ago and showed some prototypes. I don't know what has happened since then. Might be tech problem, money problem, or legal problems or all three.

I'm on my phone so I can't post a link but if you Google "waterproof nano technology" you may find something.

I just found one.. http://www.nano-tex.com/index.html# I dont know about using it in hammocks but i bet you could impregnate it into some really lightweight fabric and have a hyperlite tarp...

I have some soft-shell pants that has this technology applied to the fabric. I have worn them on a couple trips and they look the same when I come off the trail as when I started. They do not pick up dirt stains etc like regular fabric . I quit rolling them up for creek crossings because the water just beaded up and rolled off. The material is not waterproof meaning water will come thru but not soak in.

BTW you can get these pants on clearance for $55 here This is a steal for a quality soft shell pant.

Description of fabric from link above

    4-way Stretch 91% Nylon 9% Spandex – Soft-Shell
The ultimate in durability and comfort, heavier than Duro's 2-way stretch item and is ideal for more rugged use. The face is Schoeller NanoSphere® Treated.
NanoSphere® finishing technology is revolutionizing the textile industry. Nature's phenomenal “self-cleaning principle” is now also available in textiles.
Splashes and annoying stains don't have a chance: ketchup, honey, coffee, red wine oil and grease, as well as water of course, simply run off the nano-surface – even after numerous washes.
Oil and grease repelling properties at a level never seen before.
Washing permanence is many times higher than with conventional finishes.
Water absorption is considerably lower than with other methods of impregnation.
The impregnation stands up well to pressure and friction (e.g. when wearing a backpack).
The nano-function regenerates itself through heat treatment and drying in the air.
