Quilt made for colder weather have baffles in them so that the down is always between the layers of the fabric on the front and back of the quilt. Sewn thru means the pockets that separate the down are just sewn straight through so there are places next to the stitches where the down would be thinner and right on the stitch there would be only fabric. For a summer weight quilt you wouldn't want baffles necessarily because the quilt is built to take you comfortable down to only 40 to 45 degrees. I have used it comforta bly to about 35 degrees. I was checking that out only this week hanging in the garage. I have two Shenandoahs, identical. I am keeping one and selling the other. Hope that helps. Steve
