Amsteel=Truckers hitch??

I have a hammock stand that I built using 2-2x4s and 4 guy lines going to anchors. I am currently using 3/8" rope for guy lines. I am thinking of switching to Amsteel, as that I have a roll of 7/64" coming. I am using a truckers hitch. I have read that amsteel and knots don't mix. What about a truckers hitch? Any other suggestions, if not. Whoopies I don't think will work, because I need them to pull tight, the tighter, the better!

If what you're currently using is satisfactory, why change. If not, consider ratchet straps...you can pull them tight enough to break things, and they don't stretch.

Or just switch to splices. They retain more of the original strength of the amsteel and hold very well. Seems like Whoopie slings would be a natural for the application. Lots of experience by people on the forums on how well they hold.

i use a trucker's hitch in 1.75 zing-it for my tarp ridge line. i believe zing-it is just thinner amsteel/dyneema.
i would think a trucker's hitch would work in 7/64 as well?

Whoopies won't pull very tight, and if by some fluke of nature and physics you do manage to get one tight, they are the devil's own to loosen, should you need to.

I used a single Whoopie on an a single tree stand at the Ozark Hang. I just set the whoopie where I needed it and then used the truckers hitch on my ridgeline of the tarp to set the stand. Then hung the hammock and it work great.

Truckers hitch will work in dyneema.

Problem with knots in dyneema is 2 fold.
1. It's slippery and doesn't hold knots well. Any sort of "knot in a knot" like a fishermans knot even a truckers hitch does well.
2. It's very strong, but small diameter. Chafe/ abrasion can cause a real problem due to a "fine line rubbing on a fine line".
