Shenandoah Nat. Park Trip Part 2

Me and Cranky Bear are heading out to finish up Shenandoah national park section of the AT. Swift Gap to front Royal. Lows are expected to be 35's high 78's. HF you guys did a great job helping me out on my pack list last time so here it is again with some weights included. What in your opinion is not needed, whats to much. I always like sharing my pack list and hearing suggestions. It's going to be a bit lighter cause I just ordered cubin fiber dry sacks with my REI dividends. I'm looking at carrying any where between 20-25 ld with food and water for 6 days. I would really like to be closer to the 20 marker. I think some of my down insulation could be left at home but I get cold easily and if the temps drop ill be sorry I just know it. So here it is. Please critique away and ask any questions. Hey man where's the "Poop kit"????

    You know TP???

    You ain't borrowin mine!

    JJ

What are the cotton balls for?? If for your fire starting, I got somethin better, you are more than welcome to give em a try???? Next time we hang out I will bring em along!

Do your feet get cold easily? I find that another pair of socks dedicated to sleep work great for me, and worse case I can hike in them if really needed/no other choice!

You could put all clothing together to eliminate one stuff sack?

Do you carry a bandanna? Or something like it, other than just the buff?

Looks like a good list to me! Carrying 6 days worth of food is heavy from the start, but lightens as you go, heck I think my total weight is something like 26-27lbs !

Yeah after I posted I added the TP. I only bring the buff, I sweat like a maniac so no cotton at all for me. The cotton rounds are the ones we talked about and that plus some fat wood is for fire starting but I cant wait to check out the quick starts that you have been talking about. Def be borrowing a few from you. Really want to stay in the 20 range because my Swift starts to feel heavy around 25 plus even though it says it can carry up to 30 I think that's a bit to much. I'm down for a shake down at mine or yours place before the hike. And thanks again for letting me lay in your bridge. Man that thing is comfy.

Well, the only way I see from your list to drop weight is lose the down socks and use a clean second set of hiking socks and just rotate and clean as you go, lose the short sleeve shirt and sleep in the 1/4 zip one every night, drop half of your alky and cook using wood a little more (or drop it completely and go all wood), the Z-rest pad? is this the full length one/long/short, or is this the z-seat one (short sit pad one)? If it's the full length one, you could drop this for the z-seat, or another pad if just for your footbox in TQ! I have some of the GossamerGear 1/4in pad if you want a cut for this, I'm sure it weighs less than the Z-rest / seat pad!!
Only other thing would be to switch out from the Ground Hogs to Ti Sheppard hook's, your list is pretty well done and thought out, to get lower it would be nit pickin at this point, at least that is how I see it! Others might see different/better??

If I can swing it, I may try to find ya'll over that weekend. All depends on my work schedule. I'm off the following Fri-Sun. for the MAHHA already. Not sure if the boss will have me work the weekend ya'll are hiking. I'll know soon, as he should have the April shedule out next week.
