I've bought that pad last year at a beds store but it was supposed to be an article absolutely not associated with sleeping at all. It was summer so they stocked those pads for car owners to protect their cars from overheating in the sun to make some extra Euros.

I also own a different sunshield I've bought years ago and this one I bought last year is much thinner! It looks like mylar glued to a 3/4mm thin foam which my computer's TFT-display has been wrapped up with. hemmed with some other material I've also seen things packed up with, feels a little like the material froggtoggs-raingear is made of but much thinnner.

The main part is a 148cm x 68cm rectangle. There are 30cm x 24cm rounded "wings" attached to both ends (to tuck the pad between car and its doors) -- perfect for head and feet.

The pad helps to keep you warm alot and is absolutely sufficient for one who is used to sacrifices. Oh, overall weight: 74.8 g or 2.63 oz

The design is obviously super efficient in Top Quilt mode with the wrap-around effect.
And, even without pictures, I can see how you can easily attach it as an Under Quilt.

    Impressive design & workmanship!
The wrap-around effect is great! It helps not losing warmth through the sides of the quilt. Will try to set up the quilt in UQ-mode soon and post some pictures -- but you're right, it's not alot of hassle to attach it as an UQ.

That is a real work of art Trinni. Did you get the down from extremtextil too? If so do you know what the quality is? 700, 800 etc?

Thanks! I bought the down from a down blanket producer who sells them directly on ebay Germany -- "uleischer" is the username, ships to Europe. It is rated 700 cuin and subjectively I'd say it lofts better than 700 cuin from extremtextil (my summer TQ is stuffed with 250g 700 cuin goose down from extremtextil). Paid less than 100,- EUR for 1000g of class 1 polish goose down from Pilsen (according to the producer better than down from the pyrenees)... but had the mess of ripping up the original blanket. Make sure to contact the dealer and ask for the cuin and don't forget to use the suggest-price option when buying .

Yeah, that's why I had to rip off the original down blanket . I'd try contacting him in English -- he's selling europe-wide and should be prepared to answer questions in English .

Great looking TUQ...your attention to detail and planning really shows... I have one question... What are Tankas??? When I do a internet search I get:

"A tanka is a classic form of Japanese poetry. A tanka has five lines with a traditional pattern of 5, 7, 5, 7, 7 syllables."
