How Do You Like to Hang Your Clark?

I've been busy trying to get the perfect hang with my NX-250, and I'm curious how people are using their Clarks.

Last year I pulled it really tight, until is was level, and then backed off just a tiny bit. This year I tried that same technique again, but for some reason the zipper wouldn't going around very easily towards the head of the hammock.

Right now I have it set so there is a more pronounced "sag".

What's your preferred type of hang for your hammock?

*Edit: I figured out why mine wouldn't zipper shut. I forgot to fully zip the hammock before hanging it.

Good question. On the hangs I have attended it seems as though the clarsks are happiest when strung pretty tight.

I string mine tight and use the drip rings as the loop in a truckers hitch, I can get it pretty tight.

    setting the sag

I use a ridgeline off the drip rings and set my sag... then it's just a matter of height

do you have the drip rings tied in so they can't move? Mine can slide up and down the ropes (not easily of course) and I have used that to adjust my hang at times.

I tried hanging my North American once with a "Clark Bar", but the chocolate melted when the sun came out.
So I just use conventional methods and hang it just a bit less than taught with the clark pretty much level. At least it works for me.
Did you like the chocolate bar joke? Pretty hood Huh!!

I tried a Clark bar too, but now I use a Whatchamacallit.

    But seriously folks (!)

If you have trouble zipping the netting and weather cover that is an indication that the body of the hammock is strung too tightly. I like to string my 250 so that I end up with the quintessential 30 degree from gtound angle with the suspension lines. I find I can get a better sort-of-diagonal lay if it is not too tight.

Thanks Jim. That's pretty much what I did after my last post.

And then I got a really bright idea: Reading the owner's manual!

Something I only glanced at when I first got the hammock in 2008.

Thank you for you comments and for reassuring me I'm on the right track.

    Oh, yeah.

I am more of a Zagnut kind of guy. Harder to melt!
