    Hiking in ohio

My wife is going to be working near Jeffersonville ohio for a week in mid April. I see on the map that wayne nat. forest and hocking hills are not too far away. Can anyone give me a bit of info on some hiking trails near there. I'm probably just looking to do some hikes in the day not overnights. What section of wayne national forest is closest to Jeffersonville? Any other hiking closer? Thanks.

The closest to jeffersonville that I know of would be Tar Hollow state park. Take 22 east out of Washington Court House (just east of jeffersonville). Go through Circleville, stay on 22. Map it from there. It has some gnarly hiking and some more level stuff too.

or if you go west from jeffersonville, take 35 west towards dayton/germantown. Twin creeks/rivers metro park has some nice hiking trails, well maintained, 3 feet wide. look up metro parks in germantown. they should be about the same distance from jeffersonville to either location.

I've done Tar Hollow regularly.. pretty decent, youwont run into anyone on the south loops, blue or red. Have some really really nice ash groves down by the Firetower there as well, youc an park there and there's about 12 primitive sites about 400' into the woods. I'd follow the trail past those down and around vs. taking the two trailheads at the tower going the opposite way.

You could go north just outside of Xenia to John Bryan State Park for a dayhike. Ceaser Creek State Park has a 14 mile loop. You can register with the visitor center you have two backpacker camp sites to choose from.
