I'm taking a job in NYC and would love to meet up with some people interested in escaping the big city every so often. I've met some great folks in Ontario through this forum, and I have no doubt that I'll have the same luck in New York.

We're not too far from the city.. about a 20 min drive or 40 minute train into jersey. We've found a couple spots around here that are good for hammocking and of course... the AT is right over that hill.
when you comming in?
I'll be hitting Bear Mountain which is about 35-40 min from NYC April 2nd for an 18 miler round trip
And I'll be hiking NOBO on the AT from Bear Mountain to CT April 30th
Bear Mountain Inn is a safe spot to leave your car for overnighters and such (park police patroled)

Groovy. So there are a couple of you out there
Axolotl: I drove to New Brunswick NJ and stayed with some friends when I went down for my interview. The country looked beautiful, at least what I could see from the interstates
Raul Perez: Its going to be a couple months yet. Probably mid June, as long as there aren't any visa issues. I'm definitely up for anything in the late summer or fall that involves two trees 14-20 feet apart
I live right near Bear mountain in the town of Peeksill. Not too far from the city. 45 minute drive north.
