    2 people in a NX-250?

Has anyone tried to sleep 2 people in a NX-250? I'm 6'0", 170lbs, and my wife is 5'4", 120lbs, and we are able to sleep very closely (2 of us in a twin bed). I know that Clark can't endorse it due to safety reasons but we fall easily under 300lbs. Thanks for you input!!!

If you really like being close together, then go for it and report on your findings. Just remember that nighttime relief missions are going to be a new experience!!!!!

For the NX-250 or any other hammock (except dedicated, like the vertex. 'only' a $110 more) I would say it's not a good idea, but can work in emergency situations. You should lie in opposite directions, giving you more room for shoulders and balance the weight better.

    I have a NX-250

and I consider it to be a reasonably roomy hammock.

That said, it is sewn in such a way that the body has a distinct "U" shape when loaded. I would wager that two people would be jammed together in the hammock in an uncomfortable situation. Sleepingtwo on a narrow mattress is one thing - it is designed flat - but I think the 250 will be quite uncomfortable.

No real-world experience here, just theorizing.

Very few people claim to sleep comfortably 2 to a hammock. Those that have tried it even with children say it doesn't work. Taking a nap is easy, lots of people say they enjoy that in the right temperature. 2 people produce a lot of body heat. Only 1 guy that I can recall seeing claim that him and his girlfriend prefer it.

Thanks everyone for your input! Sounds like I'll need to invest a little more time before I choose our next shelter.

Sorry for the late response...I'm not on these forums as often as I used to be.

I have a friend who is not a member of this forum who has slept 2 in his NX-250.(he and his wife) I asked him about the experience, since it's something I've always been curious about, too.

He reported that it wasn't a comfortable experience. Anytime one person shifts around, the other is affected as well. You also tend to "settle" towards the lowest point in the hammock, squishing both occupants together.

If you didn't mind being very close with the other person, and both people sleep very soundly without much movement, then it would work. I think that's a rarity, though.

If you want to stick with clark brand then the Vertex is your best bet, otherwise check out an ENO doublenest. I don't find it comfortable but I know of people that have successfully slept double in it.
