Hey Ya'll,
Do those hammock posts for when you only have 1 tree really work?
Are there any DIY instruction for making one here on this board or on the net?
Thanks!

Psalm 19:1-3 "The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork. Day unto day uttereth speech, and night unto night sheweth knowledge. There is no speech nor language, where their voice is not heard."
yes. I've done it, as have several others who at one time or another chimed in here.
See this picture
Two 2x4x8' weather treated boards. 3/8" ring bolt and washers through a drilled hole about 6" down. Ring screws with a cord to keep the legs from spreading arbitrarily far apart.
Two lines, about 12', tied to the topmost ring, down to those stakes you screw into the ground and leash a dog to the top.
Today's chatter about chain-gang stakes suggests that that could be a way of securing this, maybe using only one line. I'll have to see once the ground around here thaws and dries out.
Grizz
I don't know about the chain gang stakes for this. Risk even says:I tried this with tent stakes without success. Like always, the pull on the stake is MUCH greater than anything a tent usually puts on a stake. Even two stakes in tandem could not support my weight.

I got bored one weekend and did it. No problems once my mind accepted the fact that it worked. I haven't climbed into a hammock so gingerly since I first started hanging. I used one of the 'screws' for dog leashes.

Trust nobody!
Another option for the stake would be a 24" heavy duty steal construction stake. That should hold after you pound it into the ground, you'll need a good size sledge for that, LOL!
I sell trees. I think I can solve your problem!!!!!

So, is there anything to be done when there are zero trees? Can you use two sets of V's to hang from? Are there any other "fairly" lightweight frame systems?
No truck, got a Jeep. (but I don't think I'd want to try to load it onto my pack).
